The Amarnian Reform by Baranguirus The Amarnian Reform by Baranguirus
In Ancient Egypt, durning the New Kingdom, the clergy of Amun had taken over about 68% of the crops, and the pharaoh Akhenaten decided to create a new religion based around a new sun god, Aten, and he banned all the other cults. This is a metaphorical representation of what happened.
From left to right: Hathor/Maat, Thoth, Amun, Set, Osiris, Horus and Isis. Aten is raging in the background.
Enjoy!

With the scattered clergy in Ancient Egypt, it's little wonder that eventually the Greeks would wipe away the last remnants of the old gods.

Not to mention the persians before them. But after Tutankamon, the old cults returned to Egypt, and those survived marginally until the latter Roman Empire. For example, there was a Temple of Isis in Pompeii.
